Koei Tecmo’s Augmented Reality Girls Trinary has been out for a while now. Despite the game having English labels on most of their icon, the game is still essentially fully in Japanese. Unless you can read Japanese, chances are, there will be things you won’t understand. Here’s a list of things that will help you in your experience with Augmented Reality Girls Trinary (ARGT).

1. Kokoro Candy

Kokoro Candies are the heart-shaped gem that is occasionally needed for dialogue options. Whilst not understanding the full dialogue will be hard to determine which dialogue is most appropriate, depending on the color of the Kokoro Candy needed for the dialogue you can make a guess as to how you’re approaching the conversation.There are 4 different colors in total, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, and Blue each representing a different feeling/emotion. Each color has 2 variations, small and big, the bigger Kokoro Candy is a stronger version of the emotion.

Yellow = 喜/歓喜 = Joy
Red = 怒/憤怒 = Anger
Green = 楽/快楽 = Happy
Blue = 哀/悲哀 = Sad

Even though this doesn’t completely bypass the language barrier, at least you have a grasp of the situation. Just note that Red doesn’t really mean you’re venting out anger, it can sometimes be the jealous option or just disagreeing with the girl.

2. Genki Points

These are the smiley faces you have. Additional camera angles, which you can toggle during conversations with each girl, and new poses for the Changing Room can be purchased using Genki Points. You will be able to acquire Genki Points from combat or in scenarios by picking the best dialogue option.

3. Raise Relation

Normally, one would think that getting the dialogues right will raise one’s relationship with the girl in a dating sim. That isn’t exactly the case with ARGT. As you progress further into the story, you’ll start to get presents from combat. These gifts can be given with the Green Menu when you interact with the girl.

As you raise your relation with the girls you’ll unlock new Love Talks and Special Episode scenarios.

4. Combat/Curan

The combat system in ARGT is fairly simple. For each individual girl, you can build a team of five Curan, these are obtained from the game’s Gacha. Like most mobile game combat, each Curan has its own attribute. If you haven’t already guessed it, each attribute is the bane of another; Red>Yellow>Green>Blue>Red.

During Combat, your Curan has one of three possible actions, Heal, Energy, or Attack. Each turn you are allowed to use 4 Curan. You can create combos depending on what actions you pick, have 2 or more of the same type will automatically make a chain as well as having one of each action (1x heal, 1x Attack, 1x Energy). Chains give buffs and heals depending on the length of the chain, obviously the longer the combo the stronger it will be (Max. 4).

It is also important to regularly strengthen your Curan since they don’t get EXP from combat.

Miscellaneous Bits’n Bob:

Change Outfits – Under each girl’s profile page, there is a Changing Room option that lets you preview the outfits you have unlocked. If you find one you like, you can have the girl change into that outfit with the Orange option when you interact with them on their home page.

Anime Scenes Require VPN – All anime scenes in game require VPN. So if you’re wondering why the first none of them work, it’s probably because you don’t have a Japanese IP.
