[Qoo Review] We demand these games to be made into anime series

0

Some hot games can leave people feeling unsatisfied and empty. This is why they need a sequel or an anime adaption to quench fans’s thirst. The selected games below are some of the popular titles that hardcore fans highly recommend an anime adaption, and we COMPLETELY agree.

1. Persona 5

This PS4/PS3 game was probably the most exciting release from late 2016. The vibrant art style, jazzy music and the complexity of gameplay have made it particularly refreshing in this era when realistic graphics have become some developers’ sole concern. Another thing worth mentioning is definitely the drama. To begin with, the game has a lot of short anime clips inserted between scenes. Together with the story-driven gameplay they form a coherent drama.

Secondly, the plot which depicts some teenage outcasts fighting for the justice that the law does not guaranteed and for the truth behind every seemingly just cause is simply hot-blooded. It also resonates with the tiny rebellious spirit that lies inside everyone’s heart. Hot-blooded, coherent, dramatic, rebellious – Persona 5 has the typical elements of a successful anime series (Gurren Lagann is a perfect example).

By the way, Persona 5 has already a standalone anime episode titled Persona 5 The Animation: The Day Breakers. Then why not make it a long big series?

2. God Eater Online

God Eater’s previous games was made into an anime series in 2015. The series was actually well received by fans and non fans, and hence many expect a sequel. There is a problem with making sequel, however. Every God Eater title is set in the Far East Branch with recurring characters like Alisa and Sakuya, and in every game the characters do not develop enough to be made into a sequel.

In God Eater Online, it is refreshing to see a new background, the Himalaya branch, and new characters. There are also quite a few mysteries that make the story more dramatic. If this is not a suitable material for the long-awaited God Eater anime sequel, I don’t know what else is.

3. √Letter

√Letter is one of the few visual novels that sells well despite not being scary, erotic and gore-splattered. It is just a usual detective game where players have to solve a mystery and put pieces together, but its unusual story has caught many attention in a sea of mediocre detective games. Players take the role of a guy named Max, who comes across an old letter from his pretty penpal Aya that he hasn’t contacted for more than 10 years. The letter says “I killed someone” and “farewell”.

Curious and worried, Max sets out to a small town where she lived. As a detective story, the players of course have to gather evidence and interrogate/interview all sorts of people that may relate to Aya. And after all these is where the game makes players feel so so stupid – everything turns out to be a big lie. Even all the letters, even the existence of the people Max knows – they are all parts of a huge lie.

Yet, this is not the real shocking part. The shocking part is the sad truth that lies behind it – the truth that does not affect the players that much, but make them feel sorry for every single character that is involved and every experience they have to go through. Immersive? not really. Atmospheric? yes, so atmospheric that it deserves to be made into an anime.

P.S. Some endings in this game are actually quite ridiculous.

The reason why we pick this game has nothing to do with the gameplay. It has everything to do with the story. The only one that we absolutely love is Persona 5. So yeah, we may not really enjoy the game itself, but we definitely enjoy the background, the setting and the plot. If you are looking for an overall nice experience, then the last two games may not be that fitting. If you are looking for stories that are refreshing, we promise they will do a pretty good job.
