TV anime Basilisk: Oka Ninpocho (バジリスク ~桜花忍法帖~) will air on 8th January. The first Trailer has been released.

The opening narration is done by Nana Mizuki, the voice for main character Iga Oboro in the 2005 Basilisk anime. The show is currently in production at Seven Arcs Pictures and directed by Vivid Strike’s director Junji Nishimura.

Background

The original TV anime Basilisk is adapted from Futaro Yamada’s (山田 風太郎) novel called The Kouga Ninja Scrolls (甲賀忍法帖) published in 1958. The story is about a couple, Kouga Gennosuke and Iga Oboro, whose family are rival Ninja clans. The clan conflict eventually leaves the lovers with only two choices – their partner or their families. The coming anime is based on sequel novel Oka Ninpocho: Basilisk Shinsho (桜花忍法帖 バジリスク新章) written by Masaki Yamada’s (山田 正紀).

This sequel depicts events that happen 10 years after The Kouga Ninja Scrolls. The protagonists are the children of Gennosuke and Oboro, Kouga Hachiro and Iga Hibiki. The young men are doomed to the fate their parents once faced.
