Sui Ishida’s (石田スイ) dark fantasy manga Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種) will finally return after almost three years. This is the third anime adaption of the series.
The new season Tokyo Ghoul:re (東京喰種トーキョーグール：re) is based on the manga’s second part of the same title, which began serialisation in 2014 and is still on-going. The anime will begin with Ken Kaneki’s life as Haise Sasaki, an investigator in CCG. Except for the protagonist’s voice actor Natsuki Hanae, other cast members are yet to be confirmed.
To celebrate this announcement, the mangaka published a special illustration of Kaneki on his Twitter.
Tokyo Ghoul:re will arrive in 2018.

Serialised in Weekly Young Jump magazine since 2011, the story follows Ken Kaneki, a plain university student who is turned into a half ghoul by accident, and the story carries on as he tries to survive as a half ghoul and gets involved in a chain of ghouls’ conflicts. The manga’s first part, Tokyo Ghoul, finished in 2014.
