[Qoo Review] Casual Connect Log – Last day: Prizes

0

The last day at Casual Connect was a blast!

It started out as usual – food, drinks and chit chats. Then the clock hit 1pm, and everyone started heading to the lecture hall.

Yes, it was the Indie Prize award ceremony!

The last day of Casual Connect was very important because not only did it encourage indie developers to work harder and better, but also provide an easy access to game development. Starting with the award ceremony, ten awards were given to nine games (see the full list of winners here). Since Unity was sponsoring the event, some winners could get a whole-year of Unity development kit subscription!

Other prizes were all designated for game development. They were helpful to developers, and motivations to all potential game makers who are in need of support!

After that was a infomative sharing session by the award panel including Christopher Lefebvre, Head of Business Development of Tapdaq, Mike Hines, Developer Evangelist of Amazon, Kadri Ugand, Co-Founder and CEO of GameFounders and Yuliya Moshkaryova, Director of Indie Prize. They talked about a few things that all indie developers should remember when they want to submit a game to whatever event.

One common mistake that most people make is the lack of localisation – not as in translation but the entire package. The panel said, say for example, different poster designs should be ready to tend to different audience in different cultures. This can get the game more attention in the target country, plus make it more friendly to local businesses that may take interest in the game.

Future developers, take notes of it!

So Casual Connect has ended, but that’s not the end of Casual Connect on here – because more interviews and insights are coming!
